Fairydean Mill is just 30 minutes drive south of Edinburgh and only 10-minute drive from Peebles and it’s popular Golf Club. The famous Glentress Forest and Dawyck Gardens are well worth a visit, in any season.

Bowhill House & Country Park – 11 miles
For more than seven centuries the Scotts of Buccleuch have been part of Scottish Borders history and their principal house, Bowhill is today home to the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry and a part of the internationally renowned Buccleuch art collection. The woodlands are outstanding and there are dedicated trails for wildlife enthusiasts.

Dawyck Botanic Garden – 12.5 miles
Dawyck is truly one of the world’s finest arboreta. Seasonal displays of abundant exotic and native plants provide a breathtaking backdrop of colour throughout the year. The Garden also offers an award-winning visitor centre.

Kailzie is a large family garden with extensive grounds and walks. It also boasts an 18 hole putting green, fishery stocked with Rainbow Trout and children’s play area. You can view the Tweed Valley Ospreys and we can personally recommend Kailzie Garden Restaurant, the food is sublime!

Melrose Abbey is a magnificent ruin on a grand scale with lavishly decorated masonry. The Abbey is thought to be the burial place of Robert the Bruce’s heart.
